I read the book looking for an answer on how to come off my antidepressants, because even though I am on the maximum dose, most days I still feel down. I have also put on a lot of weight as a side effect of the drug. I spoke to my doctor about coming off them and he said cut it in half for a week, then half again for another week and then stop taking them. Well I lasted about two days before I had severe brain zaps, extreme anger and felt really emotional. Then I decided to go back to the full dose when I was driving my car and I thought to myself I want to drive the car into the wall and kill myself. Even before I started taking the medication, I had never got to that point, so I resolved not to try coming off them again, for fear i would not live to tell the story. The doctors just don’t tell you how dangerous prescription drugs can be when they are prescribing them to you.

I have only just finished reading the book a couple of days ago, so I haven’t tried everythiing that the book entails just yet. But there is a section that recommends excercise to boost mood. I have read it before on the internet but didn’t really think it would work. But I thought I will give it a go this time, along with omega 3 and 6 essential oils. Well the difference is like day and night. I just started jogging around the park and pumping some weights along with supplementing the essential fatty oils and for the first time in years I feel like my old self again. I’m getting up early and have motivation instead of lying in bed all day, and feel a general optimism about the future.

The book suggest amino acid therapy, supplements and lifestyle changes instead of medications. The program gets you feeling good so you can begin reducing your substance of addiction until you are off it completely. It may be a while before I can get completely off my antidepressants but this time I am going to reduce it by ten percent for fourteen days and gradual increase the dose of the amino acids until I am free.

The book is a great read like all patrick holfords books. It has motivated me to study nutrition at college
